About Blackjack:

Blackjack Jargon:

  • Hit = To ask for another card
  • Stand = To stay with your current cards and accept no more cards
  • Double Down = Double your bet for 1 more card and no more
  • Split = When dealt two of the same card the bet is doubled and they are made into two hands
  • Surrender = Some tables/Casino's allow you to quit and forfeit half your bet if you see that you have been dealt a bad hand
  • 1st Base = First player to be dealt a card
  • 3rd Base = Last player to be dealt a card
  • Shoe = Usually the box like thing that holds the cards(ex. 7 deck shoe)
  • Basic Strategy = A computer generated strategy that determines the players actions based on the players and dealers cards
  • Card Counting = A system players use to keep track of cards that are dealt in order to determine what cards are likely to come next

Black Jack is game found in almost all Casino's. The rules vary from casino to casino and even from table to table. Black Jack is played against a dealer. Several players may sit at a table but they are all playing against the dealer. The only time another players cards matter is when he's possibly taking cards that would hurt the dealers hand. Because of this many people prefer a good/experienced player to be 3rd Base or the last position on the table. This person can often influence what cards the dealer gets.

The objective is for the player to beat the dealer by being closer to 21 (without going over) than the dealer. In normal rules games the dealer hits on 16 and stands on 17. So if you are dealt a king and a 8 and stand against a dealer showing a 6 you have a very good chance of winning. Let's say the dealers hidden card is a 10 giving him a 16. The dealer would have to hit which would most likely bust him because he would go over 21.

The best way to learn the basics is to play a computer game with no money.

Hopefully you already know how the game is played. By mastering Basic Strategy and Counting Cards you can start winning money at Black Jack.

I will update this section soon but for now move on to Basic Strategy.
